Mafia Wars is an absolute mess today. A mission glitch involving treasure chest keys has given a few lucky players thousands of free reward points. All you needed was to be playing at the right time. Rumor has it that there will be some kind of roll back, but I'm skeptical. Firstly, nothing was done about the precious gems glitch. Secondly it gets complicated when you consider that many of the points are already spent, and the glitch was entirely Zynga's fault (as usual). Now, a new epic boss fight appears, and just as we are about to finish it, they remove the whole thing. Oh, and Atlantic City disappears with no warning, and no reasonable explanation.

Random Stuff

Sometimes, I wonder why I play this game.

Today, I've watched the fallout from the war loot rollback. Something that has done nothing to solve the problems of wars being over too soon, but has annoyed many honest players. That didn't annoy me too much (except for my behaviour being deemed "abnormal"). Was anyone at Zynga actually listening to the complaints? The majority were about how wars were over too soon.

Then the Raven boss fight popped up. I had a full eight hours, and I spent pretty much all of them fighting. I iced over 1,500 opponents, and I got 4 extra sniper shots for my efforts. Did anyone actually test the fix that increased the drop rate by 3?

Finally, there's rumours of a new city coming soon. This is good, but please fix Brazil - precious gems still do not drop from robbing, and there was supposed to be 3 new collections...

So, where is the Assassin?

I don't know what happened to the assassin boss (also known as "The Raven"). But it looks like he's been shopping. Does this mean we will get random rewards when he returns?

As we already have new items in the city store, these ones most likely drop while doing jobs. Again, no stats are available, as these items do not yet appear in the inventory.

This is something interesting I found the other day, I almost forgot about it, but a recent post about Atlantic City on MW Loot Lady reminded me about it. I thought it might just be the solution for people who are stuck there. For anyone who is not stuck, you'll probably still find the bit about "Chapter 0" interesting :)

Notice that although the screen shot says "1: Uptown", the jobs are different, and quite possibly you will be able to master them for skill points. There's six jobs there, so you may be able to get 24 skill points. Please note, I take no responsibility for anyone getting stuck in Atlantic City (only for getting you unstuck) :)

FrameExt - An alternative to unframing in Firefox

Unframing is essential for running most bookmarklets. Sometimes Zynga or Facebook decide to change something and it breaks. Recently, I've had some trouble with popup windows not appearing when unframed.

FrameExt is a Firefox extension that I've found useful. It allows you to run bookmarklets on the Mafia Wars frame, but without unframing it.

Download and install the Firefox addon from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/frameext/ (you will need to restart Firefox to complete the installation).

Copy the link of whatever bookmarklet you want to use. For example, here is Operation-a-nator, from Spockholm Mafia Tools.

Right click somewhere in the Mafia Wars frame. Choose "This Frame", "Change Frame URL" (this is the new option provided by FrameExt).

A popup will appear, paste in the bookmarklet link.

The bookmarklet should run, just as if you were unframed.

Update on Rare Operation Loot

Yesterday I posted that I wasn't seeing any rare operation loot. I'm currently of the opinion that there is a daily limit on rare loot. This morning, it was dropping fine, until I got 7 rare loots (I may have also got some from feed rewards, so I'm going to guess there may be a daily limit of 10 rare loots).

Operation Loot Nerfed?

Okay, this has been bugging me for the last few days. I've done quite a few operations since they've been released, so I have a rough idea just how rare items such as the Grim Reaper and Z17 Micro are.

Take a look at the loot I got just now (not sure exactly how many operations I did, but most were Transport Stolen Uranium - the most common operation, and also the one that should drop Grim Reapers and Z17 Micros).

Usually, I would have expected at least a couple of rare loots from that. But for the last few days, I've hardly see anything good! Has anyone else noticed this?
